Personal Statement

I am a natural athlete. I love competition (and not just sports). I have played baseball since age 6 and wrestled since age 8. I am known for being highly coachable and making quick adjustments when directed. I know that hard work and hustle at practice is important. My baseball IQ is extremely well developed. I want to play baseball beyond high school and is working hard to get noticed. Current GPA is 3.7 and coursework is all at the honors (math, science and social studies) and CP levels. I play for Delaware Fury in the summer and my high school is Delaware Military Academy (DMA) in Wilmington, DE. I was part of the starting varsity team that brought DMA its first state high school championship in May 2021.

Scouting Report: Drew is an athletic SS/RHP who is a prospect on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are solid as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is soft / sure and presents well out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Throws are accurate with carry (89 mph velocity) across the diamond. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential through an athletic setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap to gap pop. On the mound, he works through a controlled balance point, has smooth separation and fires from a clean/loose arm action. He gets strong glove-side lead and stays directional toward the dish. FB ranges from 78-80 mph. Breaking ball shows 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup and shows a feel for pitch with sink. Slider is harder with tight spin and short break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Drew has an upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.
