Personal Statement

I am Tre Benjamin, an Outfielder/RHP.  I have been playing baseball all of my life and my goal has always been to play at the collegiate level.

Coaches have told me that have a high baseball IQ, I am very coachable and have exceptional work ethic.  I am a true believer that if you work hard the results will follow.  I believe my passion for baseball and work ethic are my best traits and what will allow me to get to the next level.

I also understand the importance of education and work hard to maintain a strong GPA. I approach my classwork with the same tenacity that I have on the baseball field.   For now, I am interested in Finance and Business.

Off the field,  I focus on being a well rounded person.  I get along with my peers and try to be the best citizen I can be.  I participate in various volunteer activities as a member of FBLA and assist in coaching youth baseball for our club organization.

I look forward to finding the college that will allow me to fulfill my dreams in both baseball and academics.

  • If looking for a long, lean projectable, two-way prospect with upside, look no further than OF/RHP Wilken Benjamin (Mundelein). Benjamin, a 6-foot-4, 165-pound, right/right prospect has a loose arm and pitched at the bottom of the zone with a three-pitch mix and fastball up to 83 mph. Offensively, he has natural lift in his swing and a gap-to-gap approach. Benjamin will be one to watch mature and develop over his final two high school seasons.10/13/19 Positional Profile: OF Body: 6-foot-4, 165-pounds. Long-limbed, high-waisted, highly-projectable frame. Hit: RHH. Quiet, balanced setup, smooth load and short stride. Long bat path, works uphill through the zone and pull-side tendencies. Power: 91 mph exit velocity from the tee. Arm: RH. OF - 82 mph. Long, loose arm action, high 3/4 slot. Defense: Athletic actions, attacks the baseball, fluid footwork, sure-handed and plays through the baseball. Run: 7.51 runner in the 60. Positional Profile: RHP Delivery: Tall and fall delivery, works with rhythm, stays on-line and lands square. Arm Action: RH. Arm works loose and clean from an over-the-top slot. FB: T83, 78-81 mph. Downhill tilt, works the bottom of the zone. CB: 65-67 mph. 12/6 to 11/5 shape, feel for the zone. CH: 72-75 mph. Fastball arm speed at times, works down in the zone.

  • IMA Player Midwest College Crosscheck
  • 9/14/19 to 9/14/19
  • 6-foot-3, athletic right-handed hitter, has frame with lots of room to physically fill out. At the plate, wide setup, hands load back, open stride, uphill bat path, lots of pull side pop potential in his swing, has bat speed, has the raw bat tools for future middle of the order in college. Defensively, good feet actions need to shorten release. Arm plays long and loose, speeds through a high slot, solid arm and should even get better. Can definite play at the next level D1, and I like the upside in this player. RECOMMENDATIONS: Consistent strength and conditioning routine. Add a regular grip strength routine. 60 yard sprint routine, 3 sprints 3 times per week. Long toss every other day as far as you can comfortably throw.

  • Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City
  • 7/31/19 to 8/04/19
  • 07/31/2019 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 2 (Ages 14-18) Wilken is an athletic and talented 2021 2-way prospect that worked hard all week. In the OF, Wilken is on time with his prep step, he works behind the ball, and has a quick first step to the ball. He works behind the ball and makes accurate throws to the bases. At the plate, Wilken starts in a wide stance and gets his front foot down on time. He has a gap to gap approach and stays back on the ball. He needs to continue to create backside drive with his lower half and keep the barrel inside the ball. On the bump, Wilken gathers over the rubber, separates on time, and works down hill. He attacks the bottom part of the zone with his fastball and has some feel for the changeup. He has good direction but he needs to continue to have a strong front side and ride his back leg toward the plate. Wilken will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future. Exit Velo 88

In the field, Wilken shows good range and makes the routine plays. Getting into a more athletic fielding position can help Wilken improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting into his load and hits against a strong front side. He takes a direct swing with fast bat speed, leading to loud contact and line drives. Wilken can improve defensively by consistently staying compact in his swing. On the mound, Wilken gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through his release, staying inline towards the plate. Wilken shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 75mph with arm side run. Breaking ball sits from 58-62mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 69-70mph with arm side run as he throws with deceptive arm speed. Wilken can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With two more years to develop, Wilken has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.
