Personal Statement
My name is Ryan Kirk and I have been a multi-sport athlete at First Assembly Christian School. Due to a tear of my ulnar collateral ligament this summer, I had Tommy John surgery on July 11th. In order to properly rehabilitate and further develop, I am home schooling to a 2016 prospect. I have played varsity baseball since the 8th grade as the starting shortstop and pitcher . As a 6'3", 180 lb. player, I am pursuing a baseball scholarship, particularly in the southeast. I am open to quality academic schools of any size that have a great baseball reputation. At this time my interest academically is in sports administration. This past spring at First Assembly, I made the all conference and all state teams. Last summer I played for the Georgia Roadrunners, a nationally ranked 15U team out of Alpharetta, GA. The team is coached by former major league pitcher, Paul Byrd. On the mound I was 3-1 with 2 saves (2.94 ERA). My fastball topped out at 86 last summer (2012). In the spring of 2012, I was 6-2 (2.29 ERA) with a couple big wins in our State High School Tournament. . You can view other statistics on this site. Late summer of 2011 I made the 15U All Mid-Atlantic Team through NTIS. I had a great 3 inning appearance in Cary, NC last September giving up no hits or runs. LIke my Great Grandfather (Professional Player with Detroit) and Father (UNC and professionally with PIttsburgh/Atlanta Minor League Systems), I love the game of baseball and want to continue my career well beyond the high school level. I am confident that with my ability and with hard work that can be a reality.
