I have many interests in addition to my studies, mostly involving competitive sports. These include playing baseball, football, basketball and skiing. I feel that the coaches have recognized my leadership potential as I’ve been named captain for both teams I’ve played for so far this year. I understand that this title needs to be earned and I’ve always tried to show my teammates to have pride in the individual commitment it takes to play for my school. I’ve been able to extend this interest in sports outside of my school by volunteering for the Miracle League, a sports league designed to offer opportunities to children unable to play team sports without help from family and friends, usually due to a medical condition. It was awkward for me in the beginning but over time I began to warm up to them and realized that even though they had disabilities they loved sports as much as I did. My teachers have also shown interest in developing my leadership potential as I was chosen to represent my school at two leadership meetings so far this year. I liked having this kind of exposure to speakers and think that listening to a variety of speakers at these meetings has helped me to better understand the world around me.

Despite my busy schedule that includes homework, sports and helping out at home when I come home from practice, I try to plan my work in advance every time. I feel like it is more helpful to structure your work and planning helps me to balance my homework responsibilities with my commitment to my teams. My priority is my school work and I get my work done no matter what. This has been my attitude for my entire life. When I was in fifth grade I was named a Pop Warner Academic All-American Scholar and was interviewed in my class by a reporter for television. As part of the program I was able to go to Disney World and met the owner of the Dallas Cowboys.

Now that I am in high school, my parents were happy that my grades for the first quarter in high school were good but I thought I could improve and worked much harder for the second quarter. I knew what a challenge it would be and I was very proud to see that I was able to achieve high honor roll while taking several difficult courses, including AP History, and representing my school on the football, basketball, and baseball teams.

  • Brandon is an athletic C/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Pop times showed a range of 2.12-2.35 with accuracy / carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft / sure and he tracks balls well through the receiving process. He uses his body well through the blocking process and moves well laterally, centering all balls out front. At the plate, he continues to shine, displaying well above average hitting abilities with solid power potential. Hands are quick (80 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing and stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 76-78 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Brandon has the makings of a special type player and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.
