Jelani Lomotey '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Sowatei-Jelani Lomotey. I've been playing Football since I was around 9 years old. Whether I was tossing the football around with my dad & brother or playing backyard football with my childhood friends, I've always been involved with the sport my entire life. My interest in football really started to blossom during my junior year of high school when I started to contemplate whether or not I was going to continue my sports career in college for Basketball or Football. I've  learned countless lessons from football on how to be accountable and other tremendous lessons that are essential to daily life. I strive daily to be the best in whatever I do, whether that's in the classroom or on the turf. As an athlete, what makes me different from others is my unique build and how I'm able to use it to my advantage whether that's using my length in pass protection to keep the defensive rusher away from the quarterback or to use my size and strength to create lanes for the running back to run through. I have managed to maintain a 3.0 GPA with hard work and lots of effort, while also dealing with a hearing impairment. Sports have always been important in my life and I wouldn't know what to do without them. I hope to continue my sports career at the next level whether it's on the turf or hardwood, I will always commit myself with 110% effort!
