I am part of the class of 2023 at Our Lady of Lourdes in Poughkeepsie, New York. I have played football for two years and I am an outside linebacker and tight end. Two years ago, I was a starting defender on the JV soccer team in the Fall, the football season was moved to the spring due to Covid so I decided to give it a try and I fell in love with the sport. After playing soccer for over 10 years, I stopped playing soccer and began playing football. I was a starting outside linebacker last season as a Junior on the Varsity team, although I still had the build of a soccer player. I started training and weight lifting during the off season. Last year I ended the season at 6’2 165 lbs and I am now 6’3 210 lbs. My 40 yard dash is a 4.7 and my broad jump is 10ft. I’m a hard worker and dedicated and I know I can make an impact in college football.
Within weeks of joining the football team I quickly realized a few major differences between the two sports. Of course the obvious things such physicality, but more importantly the aspect of family. Every person on the field has to do their job properly, similar to a machine, and if this is accomplished it can result in a victory. However, a team cannot win games by simply having just one superstar player, a team wins together and looses together. The aspect of camaraderie, brotherhood, and family are what completely drew me into this amazing sport and this is why it would be an absolute honor to play for another 4 years.
