I’m Joseph Madayag a junior and a varsity football player at Earl Warren High School, San Antonio, Texas. My football journey began in middle school when the skills I gained playing basketball and baseball during my younger years transformed me to become a better quarterback. Playing quarterback was like playing point guard when seeing the field is necessary to direct the football to the receiver who had the greatest chance of catching the ball. My pitching arm, on the other hand, gave me strength and precision in throwing the football that allowed catch completions. My passion for football grew even deeper in high school when I played other positions. This broadened my understanding of the different strategies of the game that led me to play challenging defensive back positions. It’s always very rewarding to see any of the teams I play for win due to our defensive strategies that keep our opponents from scoring.
I realize that the balanced lifestyle required of a student athlete gives me the discipline and focus I need in my life. I strive to eat, sleep, and train healthy, as well as do well in all my academic classes where I strive to attain and maintain “A” grades. I try to balance life outside school environment like singing in our church choir and putting hours in my part-time job during the summer months. I believe my lifestyle can go beyond high school and into college while pursuing a degree in engineering or law. I also believe that my skills and passion for football with the lifestyle I’ve grown accustomed will make me a great addition to your football program.
