Personal Statement

My name is Dylan Hoch and I am a student athlete at Kearny High School in Kearny, New Jersey.  I am a leader both on and off the court as I was the Student Council President in Middle School.  My school schedule is very tough, consisting of Advanced Placement classes and Level 1 classes including an optional third year language, Italian.  I elect to challenge myself everyday and learn new and important things, so with the tough courses I encounter, I do not have a lunch.  Everyday I have to bring my lunch and eat it in class to keep up such a tight and difficult schedule.  Although I do not have a lunch, I enjoy being challenged on a daily basis to get through the day and manage my schedule despite all of my extra curricular activities such as basketball and voluntary service throughout our community.
I am a 6 foot 1 inch guard who plays in arguably the toughest conference in New Jersey.  To start the season, Hudson County where my school is located had  two of the top three teams ranked in the state, both of which we usually play.  Playing against such difficult competition energizes me everyday because I know to compete with these athletes I have to work harder and play smarter then everyone of them to have a chance.  I feel as a player I stand out by making my teammates better, distributing the ball, helping of defense and being a general leader on the court.  I have been recognized many times as the "hardest worker in the gym" because I do not like to lose.  Whether it is diving on the floor, making smart decisions or staying late after practice to get on the gun which is a  a shooting machine where I can get 1025 quality shots up in an hour, this is who I am.  I have goals and beliefs and I feel my easiest way to being a successful student athlete is outworking every single one of my opponents on a daily basis.  This means doing things others would not do such as eating correctly and doing what is right for my body.  I love to get better and I feel that nothing comes easy, so with hard work and dedication I can pursue my goals of playing at the collegiate basketbal level.  I ended my senior year in the top 5 in the state in total points with 631.  I am in the top 15 in the state in scoring average with 23.3 ppg and I am a 1000 point scorer in High School.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
