Carson Murphy '19 Recruiting Profile

My name is Carson Murphy and I am a junior at MacArthur High School in San Antonio, Texas.  MacArthur is a large public school with over 3000 students and we compete in the largest athletic classification in Texas, that being 6A.  My goals and aspirations for college are to earn a basketball scholarship playing in  college just as my older brother, Kyle Murphy, is currently at Henderson State University as well as my father, grandfather, and my two uncles did.   I want to compete at the highest level I can as well as acquire a quality education from a good academic institution.  My work ethic and determination will prove to coaches that I will be an asset to their program.  Being the son of a basketball coach and the grandson of a college basketball coach and having two uncles that have coached in high school for over 25 years has allowed me to be around the game my whole life.  I have learned from my father how to play the game the right way,  with skill, hard work, a high basketball IQ and a never quit attitude.  I also believe that being a leader as well as being a great teammate is an important aspect of being a great player.  My father has worked with my brother and I since we were very young, with skill development, being a student of the game and understanding the game by being a coach on the floor.  

I believe what sets me apart from other recruits is that basketball has been a part of me my whole life, with my father and grandfather and uncles all being coaches.  My work ethic on the court and in the classroom is something that I take pride in and I am determined to be the best student-athlete I can be.  I am a good student with a 4.0 GPA in Advanced classes.  Academics is very important to me and I plan to continue working hard athletically and academically.  I believe I am a winner and if a coach will take a chance on me, they will not be disappointed.
