At the age of twelve (12), I was faced with obstacles to overcome and had to endure failure. The best thing about this failure was that I was able to learn from it, and it made me want to succeed more.
I failed the entrance test to enter High School, this was difficult for me to accept, and this brought me down. Even my teachers doubted me at a certain point. Knowing I was capable and able to succeed, my mom encouraged me to repeat the same grade. At the same time, my teacher advised that I should move on to high school because of my age and suggested I would not pass the test.
This was the biggest challenge I was facing at that time. I knew I would have to put in countless hours to succeed, my mom and I would go to the beach and have study sessions to take me away from distractions. To repeat the sixth grade, I was moved from my previous school to get a fresh start and to give me access to a smaller school which had a good teacher to student ration. Determined to succeed, I had regular school hour classes and extra classes after school. I began to learn and became a more confident individual. I was ready to take on the task at hand.
I passed the test with 20+ percent higher than I did the previous year. This major improvement made me more determined in my studies. That same year I placed 2nd in the spelling bee competition, which was a significant achievement for me. I was able to obtain my primary level education certificate from my school and the Government. I was now able to graduate from primary school.
My goals were to keep and sustain a 4.0 GPA in high school, it was difficult at first, but after a few months, I started to pull myself together. My grades went up tremendously being top 10 in my class and being selected by the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientist to attend the Medical Congress session for the year 2020 because of my grades was one of the most significant achievements I have so far. I know there are a lot more to achieve, and I will make sure to do all that is necessary for me to achieve and meet the highest standard.
