Jeremy Pohl '17 Recruiting Profile

    My name is Jeremy Pohl and I have been playing minor hockey for 6 years. I vowed to my parents along the way that even though I am playing hockey that my grades will stay up, and for the past 6 years I have played minor hockey, my education has never slipped. 

    Hockey has been a huge motivator in my life to get myself where I am today. This past year was a huge year for me that really revealed to me that when I do not give up but instead push through the pain, I will become successful. This year I was cut from my home towns hockey team. I thought my hockey career just came to and end. I then traveled an hour away from my home town in order to be able to play midget hockey elsewhere. Little did I know that I would help coach a peewee team, become junior coach of the year as well as play for two midget teams.

    This was a major highlight, but not the best by far.  I was then labeled the "peacemaker" in the dressing rooms because my focus in the dressing rooms was to lead by example and whenever there was a situation among players I was always one of the first to step in to try and calm down the situation. Another great moment I may add is the chance to be a part of two teams that placed second in their league. And the midget tier 1 team that I played for then obtained league champion as well as Zone Champion, something which never would have happened if the opportunity to play an hour away never presented itself.

     If anything, this opportunity has taught me to never give up, never to say it is over rather to keep fighting no matter the situation at hand.  That if you never give up and you are willing to put in the time and sacrifice for something you love,  that is when you will truly be successful. This year I have had a passion for hockey like no other. I was on the ice upwards to 5 times a week sometimes 6 and this has helped me to excel both on and off the ice.
