Personal Statement

I am currently a junior at Immaculate High School in Connecticut (I transferred from New Fairfield High School this year).  I have been a varsity letterman since my freshman year.  My club team is AC Connecticut 2005 National.  I have been with the club for the last 3 years.  Prior to this I was with CFC United for 2 years. I was named a “Player to Watch” by the Hartford Courant.

Soccer has been a major focus of my life from a very young age.  My inspirations have included my grandfather, who came to the U.S. from Italy and encouraged my love of the game, my father who coached at the youth level, and my older brother who played played collegiate soccer at Sacred Heart University and RPI.  I am passionate about soccer off the pitch as well.  My favorite league to follow is Serie A. I recently took a trip to Italy and spent time with family members I hadn't met before.  Family is very important to me, and I like to maintain our family traditions. I also enjoy the close bonds formed with teammates in working towards our goals.

In terms of my game, I am an attack-minded player that can play out of the middle or out wide.  With my speed and explosiveness I am able to make dangerous runs and pressure defenses by breaking lines and taking on defenders.  I am also a technical player and I feel I am strong on the ball under pressure. I take pride in my vision, passing ability and service, and I have worked hard to elevate my finishing to a high level.

My goal is to join a competitive soccer program where I can help the team compete for conference championships and reach the NCAA tournament. I am looking for a program that is suited to my skills and style of play, and has a strong team culture.  It is also very important to me that the school is one that I want to attend even outside of soccer. This means it is a good fit for me in terms of academics, student life, campus and location.  I am open to considering schools outside of the northeast if it is the right fit for me.
