Miles Newman '25 Recruiting Profile

I’m a junior at Scarsdale High School in Scarsdale, NY. I love everything about soccer – from the camaraderie to the competition to the physicality of it. At Scarsdale High School, I start as the center midfielder. My team is currently a top ranked team in NY we’ve received recognition as a top national team (in September, we were ranked #2 in nation by the United Soccer Coaches). I also play for New York Soccer Club as the starting Center Back, where I am team captain. My dominant foot is my left but I consider myself ambidextrous – I throw a baseball and play tennis as a righty, but bat lefty. I’ve been told that some of my best qualities as a soccer player are: I have a strong field sense; I’m calm on the ball; I’m very coachable; and I use my body well when going in for a tackle or driving the ball offensively. My club coach has a motto that I have adopted as my own: ‘you play the way you train.’ In practice recently, I’ve been especially focused on my technical skills and fitness levels. I am working hard and hope to have the opportunity to continue my soccer journey at the college level.
