Edward Alonzi '22 Recruiting Profile

As a goalkeeper who never quite fit the stereotypical build for the position, working for and earning everything I get has always been a key part in my success as a youth player. This underdog mentality has consistently pushed me to improve every year in order to be the best player and teammate I can be.  After a challenging U-15 year in which my team finished 6th out of 12 teams in our division, my U-17 team finished the regular season undefeated and in first place heading to the national playoffs.  This took place during the challenge of COVID, which taught me the value of intrinsic motivation and competition within a team, as well as motivating me to find a school that is a good fit both academically and athletically.  I signed an amateur contract with the USL Championship League team Austin Bold FC for the second consecutive year.  I was able to effectively manage my time to practice with both the USL and ECNL teams while maintaining a 4.6 GPA with challenging course workload.
