I hope to attend a college where I will further my knowledge in Veterinary Science in hopes of one day becoming a Veterinarian. I am currently in AP and Honors classes at my high school where my GPA is above a 4.0. In college, I aspire to keep my GPA at the highest level I possibly can. As a 5-year-old watching and hearing about swimmers such as Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, and Mark Spitz, I always wanted to swim and continue upon that path in college. I strongly believe with the help of the college coaches and my complete focus and effort I can do this as well as improve upon my swimming ability.
I believe that someone who is a good candidate for any team, should possess the traits of being reliable, hardworking, and exhibits leadership. I believe I am reliable in the sense that my teammates know that I am dependable and they can come to me for anything; that is the coaches also knowing that I will carry out any task they ask of me with 100% effort and focus. A hardworking athlete or student works hard or even works harder when tasks get tough which is what I live by; I never back down. To be a great leader one of the things you have to do is encourage your teammates to always give their best which is what I do with my teammates at practices and meets. In fact, on my previous club swim team, I was recognized as a team representative for Maryland Swimming as the coaches and swimmers had recognized I possessed these traits on and off the deck.
In both swimming and academics, I am very truthful and reasonable with myself and I know improvements can be made to my academics and my swimming abilities which this idea has been influenced upon me by my coach. Considering I know improvements can be made, my focus is driven on improving myself by striving to push through physical and mental barriers. I set goals and standards for myself that I work to achieve for every day I walk into a classroom or onto a pool deck.
After reading this you can guarantee that I will work to excel in my academics and athletics and will wear my college colors with pride.
