I have been swimming since age 9 eventually landing at Crimson Aquatics as I entered High School. I train 6 days a week and have started to incorporate more intense drylands and running into my routine. Swimming has helped me to maintain balance and become mentally stronger in other areas of my life especially academics. I understand that swimming and the training involved is a process and very difficult more often than not. I have been pushed harder than I thought possible and have made many friends both on my team and on other teams while competing. I have been fortunate to compete at many colleges and have traveled by plane as well for many meets. it has been rewarding to meet so many people and swim in so many different pools.
Currently I am also part of my High School team at La Salle Academy where we have had some great success. Our relay team broke a 20 year old school record and made All State and I have also broken individual school records. I am looking forward to the next 2 seasons with High School as it is different from club. The team is made of such great kids and I was fortunate enough to be a leader starting at my freshman year. My teammates embraced me and looked up to me even though I was only a freshman and we all came together with one goal which was to win and swim fast. I know the High School memories will stay with me and it is so fun. The coach also looks to me to help with some of the technique and strategies which has been amazing.
In club at Crimson I have continued to improve each year dropping 5 + seconds in all events every season. I have not started weight training yet and at 6’3” I am ready to continue to get stronger and faster. We have the ability to train and travel as a group and the coaches are really preparing me for the next level. I know I will be able to compete and contribute at the college level and am looking forward to reaching more goals over the next 2 years.
