Some of my best videos come from high-stakes relay races and were recorded by Milesplit. These races occurred in sophomore spring track and junior year indoors. I am wearing a Cary, green jersey, black shorts, black socks with calf sleeves.

Teachers and classmates who know me as a smart student with an easy- going, kind personality, are sometimes surprised to learn of my competitive spirit and speed. What they don’t know is that I am a fierce and fast athlete, chasing down rogue soccer forwards or running through the finish line with all my body and heart.
I learned that I was speedy at the end of 8th grade when my teachers found a way for me to be in a track meet even though I was on the soccer team. As a freshman, I started indoor track with a few meets and then went to New Balance Nationals in NYC for the freshman 400 and ran with the seniors on the 4x400 team.
It is an honor to run with the Cary High best, through lows and highs. In sophomore year, after a painful, close second at the Indoor State Meet, we rallied to dominate and win the 2019 North Carolina Outdoor Track 4A State Championship. For indoors 2020, my 3 relay teams(200, 400, 800) finished top 5 in the state, and we were ready for a breakout spring season. Additionally, I was looking forward to more individual races.
My junior year PR for the 500 indoors was 1:07.56. Through the winter, my individual times trended downward even after missing a few meets due to the flu. Looking ahead to spring, I was set on breaking 2 minutes in the 800 outdoors, something I had done in splits already. But, Covid cut the outdoor opportunities, and I did not get to record new individual bests. I know that my personal potential is not yet fully realized on the track, so I keep working out.
In season, teammates depend upon me to lead them in workouts, pacing, coach relations, multiple relays, and to earn points in individual races. I encourage and motivate and take pride in my team. I value coach expertise and am responsive to instruction and criticism because I want to perfect my technique and assist others. This summer I started training with an independent coach to improve my starts and form and I am excited for new opportunities on the track.
Considering my goals, I am looking for a college that can give me an outstanding environment to excel both on the track and in the classroom.
