Grant Roesch '23 Recruiting Profile

A very important part of my game is that I am always learning new things as they happen. More specifically if a technique is used against me I not only adapt to play against it but I take it and make it my own. I'm always communicating in the pool, helping out my teammates and calling plays. 

I have been playing water polo since 5th grade with Lamorinda WP Club in Orinda CA.  On my down year, I play up, on my up year I play a ton - rarely need to be subbed out.  In 2019 I started playing at Campolindo High School for our JV team where I was the top scorer that season, leading to a DAL victory.  I was also the only Freshman pulled up to Varsity in the post season where we ended up winning the NCS (North Coast Section) and also the Nor Cal Championships (Platinum Division 1).  In 2020 I had my first full season on Varsity, but due to Covid restrictions we played a very short season.  In the last 2021 season, I was the only Junior in a Starting lineup of Seniors.  Those Seniors were recruited and have committed to UCD, Princeton, UCSD, UCI, UCLA and Chapman.

When I'm not playing water polo, I'm swimming on my rec swim team (Moraga Country Club) in the Orinda Moraga Pool Association (OMPA) which is a very competitive rec association.  In the 2017-19 OMPA championships, I posted the fastest 50 Freestyle time for my age. The event was not held in 2020 due to Covid. In 2021 as a 16 year old swimming in the 15-18 group, I placed 16th in 50 Fly (25.63), 10th in 100 IM (57.60) and 6th in 50 Free (22.46). In High School Varsity Swim I continued to shave down my times, 50 Free: 22.21 & 100 Free: 49.08, making it to Finals in both for our DAL Championships (Var Boys took 1st place) then qualifying for two events at NCS. 

My goal continues to be finding a college where I can continue Water Polo on a campus that excites me.
