Caela Russell '18 Recruiting Profile

My name is Caela Russell.  I attendended Saint Hubert's Catholic high school for Girls in Philadelphia, Pa. From 2014-2016, in which I started varsity for those two years.  I now attend Archbishop Ryan Catholic High School in Philadelphia, Pa.  I have played AAU basketball with the Philly Heat since the sixth grade. I have been playing basketball for as long as I can remember and the love I have for the game is indescribable. I believe I am a well rounded player, but some of my main strengths are driving, mid range shooting, and rebounding.  I have a quick first step with the ball that not many players can defend. I have been consistently the leading scorer on my AAU team, but I take pride in passing the ball to set up my teammates to score as well. I also run track for my high school, and I have been an ambassador for my school since my Freshman year.

Although, basketball is my passion I am very focused on my academics.  I have been able to maintain a 4.0 GPA, and I am in all Honor classes.  I was recently one of the few students in my class selected to take AP classes next year as well.  I have many educational interests at this time, history, criminal justice, and medicine.  I consistently strive to be at the top of my class because of my competitive nature.  I believe that this desire to be great at what I do whether it is basketball, academics, or an overall person continues to drive me.

My goal is to find a university that will be a match for me in my academic pursuits, and allow me to continue to play the game I love.
