Layla Montelongo '24 Recruiting Profile

Hi! I'm Layla Montelongo and lacrosse is my passion. From the day I picked up a stick in 5th grade, I knew lacrosse was the sport for me. After playing for 7 years, I still feel pure joy when I am on the field. I never miss a practice, clinic, training session or game. Basically, I live for lacrosse. I am working to spread my love for lacrosse to girls in my community.  I coach a Girls Lacrosse Middle School team for Renegade Lacrosse.  I appreciate the opportunity to help develop the next generation of lacrosse players and am hopeful that it will spark their love for the sport.

I was honored to play for Santa Margarita Catholic High School's Varsity Girls Lacrosse team as a Sophomore.  We were the Trinity League Champions and we made it to the CIF Championship game for our Division (D1).

I am a very versatile player and am excited to help out wherever I am needed on the field. I often find myself on the defensive side of the field while playing for my high school, while I have thrived on offense the last few years while playing as a Midfielder and Attacker for my club teams. I love to build strong relationships with my teammates and coaches.  My high school teammates consider me to be the most positive and encouraging player on the team.  My family and friends describe me as being kind, loyal and fun-loving, as well as a lacrosse fanatic.

I work hard on the field and in the classroom.  My dream of playing college lacrosse is definitely my motivation to  continue to study and train hard.
