Personal Statement

My name is Dylan Troglen, and I am a current senior at Pike High School in Indianapolis, IN, and I play for Dynamo FC; both as a goalkeeper. I have been playing soccer since the age of two, and it has been my life every since.

From a very young age, soccer was meant to become more outgoing and to find myself. Now, I don't know where I would be without soccer. It has showed me what it means to sacrifice, to compete, to work hard, and how to be a good teammate.  As a goalkeeper, soccer has taught me what it means to be a leader, and how to handle the pressure when a game is on your shoulders. I am starting my fourth year on  varsity for Pike High School, as a goalkeeper, and recently, center back. Soccer has thrown challenges at me over the years, which I have faced head-on, and I can't wait for this year playing on defense.

When my team(s) are down in games, I have a tendency to put them on my back, trying to keep them in the game so we can obtain the result we want. In addition to the already large pressure faced as a goalkeeper, I feel it is my job to do whatever I can to make sure my team does not get thrown out of a game due to the score. My teammates motivate me for all I do; they push me to be the best player, goalkeeper, and friend I can be, and I hope I do the same for them.

Even though soccer is a high priority in my life, school has always come first. No matter how stressful the high school and club season get for me, I have rarely allowed the stress to interfere with my grades, and I do my absolute best to set that high expectation for my teammates.  I plan  on going some type of post-gradate degree, such as a Master's, a JD, a medical degree, or a PhD, so I think grades, especially in high school and college are extremely important to keep someone like me on the track I am on.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
