On December 12, 2005 I was adopted from an orphanage in Guatemala. Coming to America, I had to adapt to my surroundings and discover who I was as a person and what made me unique from everyone else. At the age of 5, I started playing soccer and discovered that I loved running around and kicking a soccer ball. My first soccer team was a wreck team in Takoma Park. From there I moved to new teams that challenged and tested my agility, footwork, and the ability to work with others. When playing this sport I discovered that I was a great outside midfielder. I had practiced and built my body to be able to run up and down the field without getting tired. I not only could play midfielder but I was a quick learner and could play effectively in other positions and areas of the field.
Through playing different sports I learned that I am a hardworking and persistent person. When I was an incoming freshmen in highschool, I was determined to make varsity for any team I tried out for. As a result, I was a starter for varsity soccer, lacrosse, and swimming. My dad was the biggest influence in sports for me. As an athlete in high school he played many sports and that’s what drove me to do my best in every sport I played. For academics, my mother was my biggest influence. A “C” was not acceptable in my household. I had to make sure I was staying on top of my school work in order to play my sports. As a Junior in highschool, I am currently searching for colleges, scholarships and coaches to hopefully recruit me so I can continue my academic and soccer career.
