Personal Statement

2023 Defensive/Midfielder brought to you by my unique strengths: daring, determined, and competitive. I am a passionate action taker drawn to watching or playing sports. Who doesn't want to become an Olympian? Competition is part of what drives me, win or lose. I have an internal force that pushes my limits and allows me to overcome many obstacles. I relentlessly pursue what is next and more significant than I have known before as I get energy from it. I don't burn out quickly and thrive in dynamic situations. I want to add my dynamite to your team and take from your athletic coaching staff to enhance my skills and natural ability. Comment from one of my coaches: I have two unique qualities: speed and being coachable.

My name is Ayden, and I am a senior at Laconia High school, where I have been on the varsity soccer team all four years, along with the varsity swim team and varsity Track and Field. I was accepted on the CAFC '04 club travel team and the NH OPD team for the past two years. I have enjoyed playing soccer since I was four years old and had a four-year gap due to moving overseas to South East Asia. Living abroad didn't keep me from practicing. I found ways to get better with not much to work with. Determination is my focus and drive. Making a dream become a reality of playing soccer for a college excels in my determination which keeps me focused on working hard on and off the field. I enjoy putting in extra training at the gym; no, my parents do not make me. I choose to get up at 5 am to hit the gym while encouraging my teammates to join, and when they don't want to get up - I am still there to gain strength and added yoga two years ago for recovery. Healthy eating is a must, as it is the fuel that feeds the muscles to win.

  • Skillset Overview Technical Abilities - 89 / 100 Ball Control - Quality first touch in space, and controls the ball under pressure. Headers - Aggressive and willing to challenge for balls in the air. Good presence on headers. Tactical Abilities - 89 / 100 Reading The Game - Does well seeing the first level of pressure and making appropriate decision on the ball. Defensive Awareness - Understands team defensive schemes, shows understanding of positioning and angles. Physical Abilities - 92 / 100 Endurance - Great work rate throughout camp. Showed endurance that helped effectiveness, especially late. Strength - Did a good job handling challenges and played well shoulder-to-shoulder. Mental Abilities - 92 / 100 Leadership - Excellent job taking charge and leading the team. Great communicator and motivator. Coachable - Responds well to coaching. Asked good questions and seemed to enjoy the learning process. Coach's Comments Ayden was one of my top 10 players at camp. Coachable, strong, competitive, and didn't mind stepping up and taking charge. Won several headers at CB throughout camp and has the height and frame to continue to get stronger in aerial duels. Her defensive awareness was a plus and limited any easy attacking opportunities from opponents. Great fitness level already and shouldn't be something to worry about in the future. Like the song in Frozen, let it go. You do too many good things in a match to let one mistake take hold and distract. Learn from it and move on. Can always discuss with the coach at a later time. You've got great height already so getting stronger in the lower body is going to allow you to cope with the demands of the college game. It will also help with your explosiveness. The game is changing and more and more central defenders are carrying the ball up the field. Be brave and confident in your ability and continue to work on the quality of your touches.
