Personal Statement

I started playing organized team sports at the age of 4.  I fell in love with soccer and basketball from the start and ever since you can always find me on the field or on the court!  I have been blessed with excellent coaches who made soccer and basketball not only fun but also challenging.  I am always up for a challenge.  I am very driven, determined, motivated, competitive, and I love to win!  My coaches gave me the nickname, “Game Face” because when I step on the field or the court, I instantly go in hyper-focus game mode.  I give 110% in every practice, workout, and game.  I am a natural leader on the field and the court.  From the beginning, from Parks and Recreation to travel ball to middle school ball to high school ball, my teammates always look to me for direction, support, motivation, and leadership.  I was the Team Captain for my middle school soccer and basketball teams.  I am currently the Captain of my high school varsity basketball team.   I think my natural ability comes from having a large family.  I am one of 6 siblings in my home and I am the oldest girl.  My younger siblings look up to me and I strive to be a good role model for them all.  We all love sports and you can always find my family at a sporting event.  I also believe coming from a large family has helped to develop my natural nurturing instincts, which is a reason why I want to go to college to become a nurse.  I am a hard-worker and am very motivated to reach my goal of becoming a nurse.  I am a scholar-athlete.  I study and work hard to learn and do well in my classes in school.  I am committed to my future goals for college both academically and athletically, and I will put forth the effort it takes to achieve my goals.
