My name is Jayana Nicholson. I am a junior transfer Cape Fear Community College. I've played varsity soccer since the middle of my 9th grade year and I've been starting since the end of my 9th grade season. I made all conference and all region as a 10th grader. I scored 4 goals and had 2 assists this year. My biggest attribute to the team is my ability to win the ball in the midfield and start our attack. This is a quote from my varisity soccer coach Bennie Howard which best describes what I bring to the team. “If I only had one pick (for all-conference), it would have to be Jay. It wasn’t about her scoring goals or her assists, she just gave it her all every minute when she was on that field,” Howard said. “I wish everyone could play with that kind of energy.” This quote was placed in the Richmond County Daily Journal on May 19th .(http://www.yourdailyjournal.com/sports/73436/5-lady-raiders-selected-to-all-sec-team). On NC Maxpreps website I was named Richmond Sr. High player of the game twice. I was a member of the NC ODP from December 2016 to March 2017.
I leave it all on the field every game and I play the game the right way. I am very coachable. I also believe that practice is the most important part of becoming a great athlete. I take practice very seriously as I am always trying to improve, 'm always trying to get better and I just love soccer. Many people say along with my good soccer skills, I have the speed, strength, athleticism, and drive that you can't teach. I was recently timed at 4.9 seconds in the 40 on back to back runs.
I maintain a 4.0 GPA, while taking honors, pre-college, and college courses. I am a member of the National Honor Society and the Beta Club. I manage to keep my grades up while playing varsity soccer, basketball, varsity tennis, and USA gymnastics.
I just finished my first year at Cape Fear Community College. I will be transferring to Shaw University in the fall of 2020 as Junior, but I will have 3 years of eligibility left.
