My name is Andrea Brenstrom and I am currently a junior. I have been in the water for as long as I can remember however, I started swimming at a more serious level of competitiveness in 6th grade. I have always been very passionate about swimming as I strongly believe I wouldn't be who I am today if it weren't for the lessons I have learned both in and out of the pool through this sport. I have developed a stronger work ethic and leadership skills as I can be known as the "mom" of the team. I care about my teammates and try to be there for them as much as possible, whether it be a much-needed pep talk or an emergency pair of extra goggles I try my best to be the best teammate I can be. I love training in a positive environment, the hardest sets can still be enjoyable if everyone has the same mindset and positivity. This is something that I hope to find in my future team whether it is Division I, II, or III. I always love to be challenged both academically and athletically, which is why I have always taken honors courses and now an AP. I am a very driven student and take my academics extremely seriously so I hope to find a school that is equal in terms of both athletics and academics.
I first started swimming on a small recreational team when I was in the 1st grade and had so much fun. However, once I got slightly older I switched to my club team and looking back, my life would have been completely different if I didn't take that next step. I was one of the slowest kids when I first joined but me, being the competitive and driven person I am, actually learned what training was and what I needed to do to improve. I have always been proud of my accomplishments and hope to continue improving throughout college. Swimming has also led me to develop family-like relationships with my teammates. Being an only child, my friends on my team have developed into what I would consider my sisters and I hope to find that same bond on my future college team. Overall I'm an extremely charismatic, driven and eager swimmer and I hope to find a school in which I can thrive both academically and athletically.
