I started off on a summer swim team called the Spotsy Dragons. I had no idea what I was doing or where it would take me. This was all happening on a whim and it took me a couple weeks to even be willing to participate in a meet. My first event was 50 backstroke. All I remember is hoping I wouldn‘t finish last with my eyes closed. To everyones surprise, I finished first in my heat. Looking back it was a small achievement but it was the moment that showed swimming was worth continuing. I finished that summer with the most improved award and continued swimming through my current team, The Rays.
I was 13, and since then, have improved immensely. I continue to drop time in all events and excel in sprint races. I believe I have the potential to drop even more time and have yet to reach my peak. My swims still need a lot of cultivation, and I am looking for a school that can help me do that, as well as a school that fits my academic needs. I am ready to work hard to improve, harder than I ever have before, because I have so much left to prove.
