Hello! My name is Hanah Johnson and I am a Senior at Cadillac Senior High School in Cadillac Michigan. I have been running Cross Country since 6th grade and running Track since 7th grade. Throughout middle school, I started out running the long distance events offered because as a Cross Country runner, this was a comfortable skill for me. Later, in High School, around my 10th grade season, I mentioned to my coach that I would be interested in sprinting possibly, because long distance events were not as enjoyable as they used to be. At first, I wasn't the greatest sprinter on the team, I was actually one of the slowest! This was mainly due to the prior training for running long distances as compared to sprinting short distances. At this point, I was aware of how much training I would have to endure to change the way I run, understand the muscle groups involved, as well as all aspects of becoming a successful sprinter. Over the next 2 years, I continued to run the shorter distances in track including being part of a few relay teams as well.
As time went on, I continued to grow and see potential in my efforts as I began to constantly challenge myself to become better and better, eventually earning numerous metals in State and Regional Championships. I believe I have become a better athlete each and every year because of the hard work and the supportive teammate I believe I am. My willingness to accept my mistakes, and continuously put forth the effort that is needed to stay in shape has molded me into the athlete I am today. Not only am I my biggest supporter, but I am also a supportive teammate to my fellow peers too. I am always willing to listen, discuss and converse with my coaches and teammates to help everyone on the team be the best they can be!
During my academics, I have always taken my studies very seriously. I will continue to strive to be a great student inside the classroom earning my 3.97 GPA. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy participating in the Women's STEM Club and National Honors Society to positively represent my High School. My hopes after completion of High School, would be to continue my love for running track, as I study in college to eventually become a member of the medical field, possibly with a focus in Nursing.
