Personal Statement

I was born in Ghana and adopted by my parents at the age of 11. In Ghana, I had very little formal education so I worked hard on catching up with my peers when I started 5th grade in the US and currently carry a 3.0 GPA.  In addition to catching up on my academics, I played club soccer in 5th and 6th grade and joined my school soccer team in 7th and 8th grade as well as running track on the modified team in 7th grade and I qualified for the varsity team in 8th grade. My goal in college is to excel in my academics, help lead my track and field team to success and develop lifelong friendships with my teammates. I’m extremely motivated and hard-working as proven in my ability to not only catch up with my peers in school but also focus on track and field to become number one in New York state for the 100m and two in the state for the 200m my sophomore year. I was All-Greater Rochester Athlete of The Year that same year.  I’ve been named MVP by my track coaches six  seasons  in a row and I hold six sectional titles and currently hold the school record in the 55m, 100m, and 200m. In my junior year, I ran the first leg in the 4x4 relay to help lead my team to the state title. My hard work, determination, and attention to detail will help me be the best I can be academically and would be an asset in helping my track and field team achieve success.  My extracurricular activities include being involved in the Young Life Christian Youth program and volunteering for Maggie’s Kids, a  summer camp for children from impoverished areas in the City of Rochester.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
