I am currently a freshman student athlete at the State University of New York at Binghamton. Playing Volleyball at the collegiate level has been a valued experience which has strengthened my love and commitment to the sport. I know I can compete at this level and continue to work hard on the court and in the classroom. I consider myself a serious, focused and determined volleyball player in practices and during games. I would like to continue to grow as a player and as an individual. I have been added to the Transfer Portal list looking for an opportunity where I can contribute more to my team on and off the court.
Personal Statement High School Senior Year: My name is Natalie Novak. I am 17 years old and I am a Senior in High School. I have been involved in playing sports since I was 5 years old when I began playing soccer and t-ball. I am a three sport athlete for my school and have been for several years. I also played two travel sports for three years, softball and volleyball. I have spent countless hours practicing in order to improve and be the best player I can be. I work hard in everything I do. In school, I study hard and have been a high honor roll student since middle school. I’m presently in the top 10 of my class and I am a member of several clubs. I was also voted to be the Secretary for my senior class for 2018. I am also a Girl Scout and have completed the gold award.
I became interested in playing volleyball after watching my parents play in Adult Leagues. I started playing as a 7th grader and quickly fell in love with the game and have been playing ever since. I currently also play in adult leagues and coed tournaments. Playing with adults can be fun but also challenging and I find that I learn something from these players at each tournament.
I am very committed in what I do. I love to travel and I know what it takes to be a serious athlete. I have made sacrifices in the past several years in order to continue playing my sports. I played in national championships as a softball and as a volleyball player. I became involved in the USA High Performance volleyball program in 2012. I attended camps and traveled to the High Performance championship in 2015 and 2016 with the IREVA Regional Teams. I also made the USA A3 Program as an alternate in 2016 and 2017. I know how competitive it can be and how hard I need to work in order to play at the highest level of volleyball possible. My coaches describe me as a team player, very coachable, ambitious, flexible, and an athlete who is dependable, calm and collected.
My future goals are to continue to train, keep improving, and develop in all aspects of the game. I want to continue to play the sport that is dear to my heart and also get a good education in the process. I hope to make my parents proud as they are the ones who invested so much in me. I want my fellow athletes to look at me as a role model, to know working hard can pay off, and to never give up on a dream. I want to inspire them to go after their own dreams. For my coaches, I want them to know that I listened, grew, and appreciate everything they have done to help me be the athlete I am today. I hope colleges will recognize my strengths and potential. I want coaches to know I am the kind of player who will never give up on the court. I know for sure, volleyball will be part of my life always regardless where the future leads me.
