My name is Shannon Wren. I am currently a Junior at Lynbrook Senior High School in New York. I have been the starting Middle Blocker for my school’s varsity team for the past three seasons. This season I had the opportunity to play as a starting Outside Hitter as well. I did extremely well at this position averaging 10 kills a game. Playing Outside taught me a great deal and gave me an opportunity to become more involved. I feel that because I can play successfully at the Middle and Outside hitter positions, I am more of a well-rounded player. During my Junior Year, I was among a select few to be awarded All Long Island, All-State and All-Tournament honors.
Practice for my Club season has just begun and I currently play for the Club Ace Long Island travel team which is run out of Hofstra University.
I am an energetic, positive person with a never give up attitude both on and off the court. I am extremely coachable with a strong desire to learn and constantly improve my game. I was originally a Basketball player and was on my school’s varsity team as a freshman. However, I fell head over heels for Volleyball and decided to leave Basketball to pursue my Volleyball career full time. I could not be any happier with my decision! When I am on the court, I am 100 percent positive that this is where I belong.
In addition to being a stellar athlete, I am also a talented artist and an honor student with a 4.0 GPA. My course load includes all Honors and AP classes. I believe that I would be a great addition to your school and Volleyball program because I possess a strong work ethic both in academics and in sports. I am hoping to pursue a degree in Nursing. I feel that this field would be a perfect fit for me. The nurturing of others comes very naturally to me and I know that I could make a big difference in the lives of people. I am always the first one to encourage my teammates and bring them up when they are down. I have a great sense of humor and love to laugh. I put my team first and check my ego at the door.
Thank you so much for taking the time to consider me and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
