Personal Statement

Being selected as a Varsity volleyball player in my Freshman year at Massapequa High School gave me my first sense of Pride and Accomplishment as an athlete.  Massapequa HS has always had one of the strongest and most successful high school volleyball programs on Long Island, N.Y.

As one of two freshman volleyball players selected to the team I learned many lessons from my coaches and senior players.  The first lesson was Humility; there were as many as 70 players trying out for that team, some my age and many older who did not make the team.  The next lesson was Patience, I had to pay my "dues" and wait my turn; although I was fortunate that I did not have to wait too long to earn my place.  Coming from such a Strong Program, I learned to work hard, and then to work harder and to be accountable.

In my 2nd year, I started as an OH and was able to enjoy the Success of winning the Nassau County Championship.  I learned many lessons throughout that year as well.  I learned that Hard Work is quite often rewarded with success, I learned how to be a good teammate by "picking up" my teammates when mistakes were made, and that I did not have to be "Perfect" as my teammates "had my back" as well.  This lesson proved  particularly helpful as we made our "run" through the playoffs.

I truly look forward to what these next (2) years have to offer me; not only athletically but socially and educationally.  As a (3) sport athlete, I am learning the importance of "Balance".  I am learning to balance school work, athletics, friends and family and how to "Manage my Time".

I consider myself to be a Natural Leader; want to be the Best at whatever I do and want to encourage my Friends and Teammates to be the same.

I look forward to learning these next couple of years and excelling at the next level.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
