Jacob Garrick '24 Recruiting Profile

I can’t remember not playing baseball. I have spent every spring and summer since I was 4 playing ball.  I have played recreational ball, travel ball, and now play for the University Charter School and the East Coast Sox.

I am a Varsity Starter for University Charter School (1A). 2023 is our first year to have a varsity team. I no longer view my young team as an obstacle. I take advantage of the opportunities offered by my team. Playing for UCS has taught me discipline, leadership, and teamwork. I have learned never stop giving 110%. I am a team player and play where I am needed as a utility player.  I played every position except second base this spring season. My primary positions are OF and RHP. I can read the ball as it comes off the bat allowing me to get a jump on the ball. I have a strong arm and can make the throws from the outfield. On the mound I have a change up, breaking ball, and fast ball. I have a .480 batting average at the plate.   I received the captain award (only award given by our coach) during the 2023 season. This summer I am playing OF and RHP for the East Coast Sox.

In addition to baseball, I played football my junior year. I showed up to practice with a small understanding and zero playing experience. I earned a position as a Varsity starter. I am not playing my senior year to focus on playing baseball, baseball workouts, and working a part-time summer job. 

I have a goal of playing college baseball. I want to play the position offering the most opportunities. I am open to all options but want to find the right match for my athletic abilities and career goals.
