andrew ferrell '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is Andrew Ferrell. I am  a 5' 9", 160 pound middle infielder with speed (6.87 - 60) and quickness. Most people simply call me a "ballplayer" because i know how to play the game.  With the landscape of college ball changing since the advent of bbcor bats, my skill set is very appealing. I"m the guy who takes the extra base, will drag bunt for a hit or sacrifice, hit & run, hit behind the runner,  will rarely strike out, hit for average with gap to gap power and always knows the situation (rarely make a mental error).

I have played for two 5A state champions at Spanish Ft High School. In 2011, I hit in the 2 hole and started at third base. As a sophmore on the 2010 team, I played a little shortstop, 2nd base and ran bases. I played for the Bama Bombers elite travel team (2nd in BA and onbase% in 2010, 1st in BA and onbase% in 2011).  I am a winner and a leader.

Because I've never been the biggest or the strongest, I have always tried to work harder than the next guy. I currently workout 5 times a week. I have a goal to improve my 60 time to 6.7 or less before my senior season starts (starting to work with a speed coach).

As long as I can remember, my goal has been to play college baseball. I am looking for the school that will be the right fit of academics and athletics. I will not overlook a school because of size, location, etc. if they  will give me the opportunity to play and reach my academic goals. I am a good student (4.02 wgt gpa, 25 ACT, National Honor Society).  At this point, I am not sure what type degree I want to pursue, but I have a budding interest in engineering.
