While I’ve been at home practising my social distancing during this pandemic. I have two choices, I can be upset and quit because this has made something that was already going to be hard much more difficult. Or I could get up and fight every day to make this happen for myself (with your help of course!). I chose the latter and being here appreciating this time has afforded me the opportunity to think about my life and realize how lucky I am. I have so much to be grateful for, I am the oldest son to two amazing parents and I am the mentor and role model to the greatest little brother anyone could ask for. Since I can remember, I have always been athletic and excelled at any sport I tried. Growing up in Canada, Hockey was always the go-to sport and I had many successful years playing on elite teams. It wasn’t until I stepped onto a baseball diamond that I truly found my passion and the place I would call home. Being a Cardinal and playing baseball is what I was meant to do. Having the chance to represent my city, my Province and all of the hard-working volunteers that commit their time so that I can play this amazing game, has been the privilege of my life. I am ready for the next chapter of this awesome journey!
Over the last 5 years, I have been to a national championship 3 out of the 5 years and the other two made it to Western championships. During each season, I was an integral part of that success. In 2019, I was honoured to receive the Provincial (State) MVP for the championship tournament. That win pushed our team to our last National competition as a group/family. Baseball has given me so much, opportunities to meet lifelong friends and mentors, wonderful travel destinations, amazing memories that will be etched in my brain for a lifetime and most importantly, it has taught me how to work so hard, to chase the next best guy so that I can achieve my dreams of playing college baseball.
Mostly because of geography, I feel I haven’t been able to gain much exposure. I feel that because I’m personable, smart and hardworking, that I could be a nice addition to any roster. One of my coaches, who’s played at the college and National level, tells me I’m one of the best well-rounded players he’s seen since he joined our association in 1990. I believe that I fit well on any team and if my mom would let me, I would just move my bed into our field house, and take reps between naps and meals! I guarantee to work as hard as I can for the opportunity to earn any position possible.
I look forward to having a further conversation, to explore any opportunities you might have. On a side note, I have written my SAT, I was the last testing date before COVID shut the schools down. I am just waiting for my results, there seems to be a slight delay in their processing.
Thank you for your time,
Jackson Moffat
