Having, an older brother with autism has granted me the opportunity to master skills that few other kids my age have the luxury of mastering. It has taught me to be patient, responsible and possess the skills to talk to anyone. Academically, it has helped me focus on completing my work and has helped me realize the value of community and being accepting of others. This upbringing has had the benefit of making me a great problem solver. Additionally, I have learned that I work well when challenged beyond my abilities. In the future, during college, I hope to channel this towards an Engineering degree.
