Michael Baker '21 Recruiting Profile

My name is Michael Baker and I will be a senior at Highland High School in Bakersfield, CA.   Although we had a short season this past Spring, I was batting .438, playing first base and outfield.  Last summer I played in the Babe Ruth World Series in Bismarck, ND.  Our team finished in 3^rd place, but I was awarded the Batting Champion of the World Series with an average of .533.  I was named to the All World Series Team for first base and was a two-time Player of the Game and two-time Honorable Mention Player of the Game.  At age 12, I went to the Cal Ripken World Series in Ocala, FL. and have played baseball with numerous teams all over the United States.  I am 6’3” and weigh 190 pounds.  First base is my primary position, but I have also played catcher for many years.  I love stealing bases and usually bat 3^rd or 4^th due to my power and baserunning ability.

I have a strong work ethic on and off the field.  I always work hard in practice and I feel it is important to have a positive attitude and work to uplift my team and keep them motivated.  I also play basketball and was on Varsity beginning my sophomore year.  I carry an academic load of AP and Honors classes maintaining a 4.29 GPA.  My current SAT scores are Reading/Writing: 610 and Math: 620 for a total of 1230.  I am registered to take the SAT again in October and December to achieve a higher score.
