“Talent may get you on the field, but it’s effort and attitude that will keep you there”(Ken Griffey Jr) is what helps me in class and on the field. I live by this quote, because I know that if I want to play competitive sports in college, I can’t just walk on the field and play. It takes time and dedication and I have been working hard, building relationships, training with private trainers and working out on my own.
Education is important! Not only because it allows me to play baseball and basketball, but it is preparing me for my future. At the end of 8th grade my GPA was a 3.33 and now entering High School my goal is to work for a 3.5 by studying hard and staying disciplined in all my classes. So far I am on the right track. I also know that this will help me get accepted into college. I have earned an award in Science, which is my favorite subject because it is interesting and I like the hands on experiments. Right now, I would like to major in science and use it towards being an educator or an athletic trainer. I know that I need to work hard, stay focused and keep a positive attitude in order to reach my goals.
I have been playing competitive baseball since I was 6. I am passionate about the game and I am motivated to work hard in order to play at the college level. I train on and off the field. I know that I need to work out, and build my mental game in order to be a better player. I currently play outfield and 3rd base and hit 2nd or 3rd in the line-up, but I have stepped up and played other positions when needed. I know that it takes more than talent to make a team. I work hard, I am responsible, I have a passion for the game and I want to be coached. This year, I have played for the USA 14u NDTP and for the NTIS-So Cal. Team. These were my best baseball experiences because I had to find my place on the team, I had to play under pressure and I had to use my skills on and off the field so our team could play together and be successful.
When attending college, I am looking for an environment that will support me educationally and surround me with things that I enjoy doing. I would like to attend a college with classes that are smaller is size which will allow me to interact with my teachers when needed. Staying in the Midwest, Southwest or on the West Coast would be ideal, but I am willing to adventure out and try something new. When it comes to baseball, I am looking for a program that will push me to the next level and allow me to grow mentally and physically at my game. I would also like to play for a school where the baseball team and coaches can be found together on and off the field, since this will be my family for the four years while I am away from home.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
