Aaron Strong, 2023 graduate. Since the age of 5 I've been physically active year round. It started with swimming because both my brothers were on the local swim team, and I fell in love with being active and the relationships I've gained from that. Around age 6 I got introduced to baseball by my bestfriend Ian. He was joining the local little league and my parents asked if I wanted to join with him. Since then that's all I have wanted to do with my life.
I first thought about the prospect of playing to a higher level, such as college baseball, in little league around 11 years old. Ever since it's been what my focus in life has been set on. Nothing had ever attracted me quite like baseball had, and nothing still has. People often ask what my backup plan is if baseball doesn't pan out in the long run. My first thought is always "none, I don't have one" I usually say something along the lines of business, or coaching; however I can never imagine myself doing anything in my life that wasn't baseball. It's always been full steam ahead to a future in baseball. My sights are set. As I have gone through high-school I have developed a slight idea of what I would do, something with science and biology.
I swam until age 12, where I began baseball full-time. That was the best decision of my life, every day im on the field I fall more and more in love with this game. I have always been a larger kid for my age, and as I've gotten older I have taken that and used it to my advantage. For being a younger kid in my class, I am stronger than most, I attribute that to my parents approach to diet and exercise throughout my life, but also to my strong work ethic and constant desire for more.
In sophomore year, I went through some serious mental health struggles, it was a bumpy road to recovery and finally being healthy again; but in the end I think it has made me an extremely mentally tough player on the field. I learned to focus all my energy into each pitch of a game, every movement I make and every rep I take at practice is beyond focused. The mental part of the game is something so often overlooked from a young age, but I've been blessed with great coaches and family that has stressed it to me. That has greatly payed off, I feel like I have used it to harness my skill and my resources to constantly better myself, but more than any of that be a great teammate and person to everyone around me.
Biology has always peaked my interest in school, it seems like something that would be fun to do in the future if baseball doesn't pan out. There are many in-state schools that offer fantastic science programs, so entering one of those would be extremely beneficial to ensuring I can do what I love and love what I do in the future. I highly value getting an extensive and valuable education in school, and I always put my all into my schoolwork. I treat my education with an intensity and passion paralleled by only baseball. My hunger and determination to improve every single day is insatiable.
