Ryan Baum '21 Recruiting Profile

   My name is Ryan Baum, and it's my goal to attend a 4-year university on the west coast and play baseball for my school.  I am currently a red-shirt freshman at the College of San Mateo, and I'm a strong student as well as a serious athlete.  

    I consider myself to be a player that coaches enjoy to coach and trust. As a pitcher, I am able to command my pitches, control each at-bat, and provide my coaches and teammates with confidence when I am on the mound.  From a very young age, I have been lucky to have been given the opportunity to pitch in many championship games, and in all cases, I have met the challenge. I have always been a strike-thrower and now as I have grown I am able to throw a variety of pitches with increased velocity. My goal for this coming spring baseball season is to excel at whatever role I am in and bring a constant level of consistency. In order to prepare myself, I have worked very hard this offseason to improve my strength, though consistent weight lifting and cardio, and my velocity, though lots of biomechanical research and practice to improve the efficiency in my pitching delivery. I have seen a large increase in my velocity this fall as well as having a much sharper breaking ball and consistent change-up.

I’m hoping that I can join a pitching staff where I can contribute.
