"Yesterday home runs don't win today's game." - Babe Ruth
For as long as I can remember, baseball has played a role in my life whether big or small. Through the years it’s become more and more significant in my everyday life. When I think about who I am as a person and who I want to be as I grow into adulthood, there are two major areas of my life that have greatly influenced me and my character; my parents and baseball.
Growing up with a father in law enforcement, I’ve been taught many different life skills about hard work, determination, community/togetherness, putting others before yourself, etc. all through his everyday life example. Growing up surrounded by these traits I’ve been able to incorporate them into, not just my life but, specifically in my baseball life. As much as I love the game, it’s never a given. It takes constant hard work and determination to play the game! I must continuously push myself to be better each time and never take my talent for granted. Baseball isn’t about me, it’s about the team and the collective win! Every time I step out on that dirt I am reminded that every choice I make will not only affect me, but eight other people on that field, coaches, and fans!
