Ever since tee ball I have absolutely loved the game of baseball. To give you an analogy - to me, baseball is like that high school sweetheart that you keep around. The one that you know will always be there for you no matter what. The highs of the game make you feel like you're the king of the world; and the lows can be downright humiliating. However, it's that love that keeps me coming back; and to be honest, I've come back a lot. In my 10 year career, it seems like I've experienced everything under the sun. I've dealt with slumps, bad coaching, negative teammates and even recovered from a UCL injury that might cause some people to never pitch again.
Throughout rehab, I sometimes found myself depressed, wondering why I was still fighting through the pain when I was so dejected. After missing much of my Freshman season to COVID, my Sophomore year was supposed to be my breakout year - and then I got hurt. It wasn't supposed to happen that way. There were many times during PT when I thought about giving up. But working hard through the physical pain and the mental frustration of having to sit on the sidelines as a spectator and not an active participant in my high school games has taught me patience and perseverance. After spending an entire summer working hard and regaining my strength, I am now back on the mound, focused on finding my ground again.
I believe I'm a good candidate for any team because of my positive attitude and sheer drive to be the best. On the field, one advantage of mine has always been power. Ever since tee ball, I've had a strong arm and a strong bat. I think this has contributed to me becoming a dominant competitor. As a teammate, I try to maintain a sense of fun on the field and in the dugout. After all, we're playing a game, right? Negativity can hold you back. I've learned that once you replace your negative thoughts with positive ones, you begin having positive results. As I mentioned earlier, I've faced challenges in my past and I feel like I respond to adversity better than most people I know. While some may cower in fear or back down, I throw on a smile because I enjoy overcoming a challenge.
Thank you for your consideration.
