Personal Statement

What sets me apart is that nothing was given to me and I didn't "find" it at an early age. I was and always have been the underdog. Therefore, I've learned that you only get what you work for.

Furthermore, the player I am is a high-energy, team-first player. Many players' only goal when they're on teams is to be the best. However, I strive to just be the best version of myself while I hope to make my teammates better too. I love my teammates and I'll always have their backs. I believe getting to work towards a common goal with people who have similar goals is unique and it's important to also take the time to create powerful bonds that'll last a lifetime.

I've had my share of setbacks: a broken finger, a fractured foot, a lot of failure (but that comes with the territory). However, through the worst parts, that's where the most valuable lessons are: Only control the controllables. This game is a privilege not a right. Everything is earned. And self-belief is the most valuable asset there is. That's the one advantage I believe I have over other players: the ability to handle adversity. I believe I wouldn't be where I am today without my failures. Therefore, unlike most people who stray from it, I seek the challenge.

Aside from baseball, I take pride in my school-work. I don't want to excel at baseball and just slip away with poor grades because in being a student-athlete, the STUDENT part comes first. With all the work I do to be great on the field, I take that same energy into my schoolwork because education will always be there no matter what; baseball won't. Therefore, my goal is to go to a college and earn a degree.

At the end of the day, regardless if I'm a fit for your program or not, my goal will always be to get 1% better everyday.

Respectfully,

Dylan

  • Scouting Report: Dylan is a 2023 SS/RHP. Tall frame athletic/wiry build with room to fill out and time to do it. Primary SS active and good first step reads allow him to cover ground. Square fielding position with good glove angle as he gathers to make his throws. Loose arm in the back with ability to throw from multiple arm slots. Good carry on his ball across diamond with an arm velocity of 78mph. Holds his line and finds good hops on slow rollers. Secondary RHP with simple and repeatable delivery. Picks up target early with a good glove tuck as he works down the mound. 3 pitch pitcher who showed ability to command all 3 pitches. FB had good tailing action through the zone. Mixed in a curveball with 11/5 shape with medium break and some downward tilt. Flashed a developing changeup with slight sinking action. Right-handed hitter hits from a square and upright stance. Quiet load and good hip rotation to the hitting zone. Sprayed balls to all fields during BP with high finish on his swing. 3 years of continued growth and development will bode well for his opportunity to play at the next level.
