My name is Willie Dalton and I decided to reclassify to the 2024 recruiting class after graduating from Mater Dei High School at 17 years old. I am currently attending California Post Grad in Palm Springs, California in order to get develop more as an athlete as well as work on getting bigger, faster, and stronger. We are playing a competitive schedule against a mixture of colleges at various levels and I am taking a couple of classes at College of the Desert to help prepare for college while maintaining my full eligibility to play baseball.
Playing baseball throughout my life has enabled me to figure out and work on my weaknesses. I first became interested in baseball when i was 3 years old and since then fell in love with the sport. Until my Junior year I was a multi sport athlete playing baseball, basketball, and roller hockey for Mater Dei. What I have learned about myself through playing these sports is that I'm a competitor and I love to work hard and compete on the field. I have also been told that I am very coachable and am able to adapt to the feedback my coach is giving me.
There have been many details that have influenced me throughout my life. One of the details was when I get to meet MLB players and get to watch MLB games. Going to games really helps me break down the game and look at it from a different perspective. Since baseball players are always in the moment they need to be quick thinkers and live in the moment and forget about the past. What makes me different from other players is that I am willing to do whatever it takes to win. If it’s diving for balls, bodying up on a ball or taking one for the team in an important spot I am ready for that moment.
