The excitement of competing continually motivates me to practice and play to the best of my ability; I can never get enough of it. The competitive situations I find myself in change every game and that’s what makes it exciting. One day, I may be battling a pitcher throwing gas and another day, I could be throwing a runner out at home from the outfield. Although each game evolves differently, I love to be put into pressure situations. I remember being on the Little League All Star Team and being put into the game in the late innings to hit a sac fly to score the only run for our team. Coming back from a rib injury late in my sophomore season, I hit a two RBI double to get my team back into the biggest game of our season. I enjoy the individual aspect of baseball, but I also deeply enjoy the team aspect as well. Being a good teammate is very important to me; it is something I focus on. Being a good teammate can mean many things including, picking up a teammate after a strikeout, field prep before and after the game, or running to go grab foul balls. Former college players have told me how fun and close knit their teams were and I would like to experience that.
I am looking forward to playing at the collegiate level because of the challenges of competing against the best players in the country. I am interested in majoring in Marine Science, Earth Science, or Environmental Science. The Marine Science field has interested me since 5th grade when I did a report on Robert Ballard. I am very committed to baseball as well as my studies in school; this past quarter my overall GPA was 3.85. Playing collegiate baseball would be the ultimate life experience for me.
