My name is Christian Fernandez and the game of baseball has always been a passion of mine since I was the age of 4. Growing up, I worked hard at my craft and have been complimented numerous times on how quick my hands have been in the middle infield. Hard work and determination to be the best I can be has led me to become a very dependable shortstop/ 2nd basemen moving up through high school. Coaches in high school and travel clubs have expressed to me that they feel I have the talent and skill necessary to compete at the next level of baseball.
I've always felt comfortable and natural with my glove so after my freshman year, I was determined to become one of the better hitters on the team. I worked hard at putting the ball in play and making something happen. During my Sophomore year, I provided a strong bat in the lineup and was a great leadoff hitter for the team. I led my team in hits that year and was second in league and was named "Best Offensive Player" from my team. That same year, I was awarded "1st Team All League" and received an "All-CIF-SS" nod.
With my senior year coming fast, class of 2021, I am really looking forward to exploring any and all the opportunities given to me by colleges, big or small. I have been taking the required classes for college and currently carry a 3.9 GPA overall. I am also a member of the National Honor Society at my school. I plan on taking the SAT and ACT in the Spring of 2020. I am just as determined to challenge myself in the classroom as well. I enjoy the challenge of seeing things through from start to finish. I have goals to major in either mechanical or civil engineering. I am also a strong believer in family, something that was instilled by my parents at a young age, which is why I am interested in playing in or fairly close to California. I also carry that belief with me when it comes my team, both coaches and players. I have always believed team chemistry plays a major role in a successful team. I look forward to creating bonds and chemistry to succeed at the next level as well.
Thank you for reading my personal statement and I hope you take me into consideration.
