B.U.T.C.H. This is an acronym that my high school coach uses all the time and something I work to incorporate into my life. It stands for Brothers, Unselfish, Teamwork, Character, and Hard Work. On the field I don’t have teammates, I have brothers. This is the bond that makes us successful not only on the field but also in life because it teaches us how to rely on others. Being unselfish is a major part in playing at a high level. You have to be able to put the team's success above your success at all times. To me this means anything from bunting to move the runner up to celebrating my teammates accomplishments as if they were my own. In my opinion, being an unselfish teammate is one of the best things you can do for the team. Teamwork and unselfishness are very similar, you play as a team and you win as a team, it's that simple. Character is the most important to me. I strive to represent my team and myself at a high level no matter what I’m doing. Whether I’m on the field or at the store with my mom, I think about how my actions and words can affect others. Success is not given, it is earned. That's what hard work means to me. For me and my team to be successful, I have been fully committed and always put in 110%. Hard work is a vital ingredient to me being successful. That is in all aspects of life as well, not just sports.
Baseball has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Ever since I was playing little league, I've wanted to be able to play college baseball. I fell in love with the game at a young age and nothing has changed since. My family has always taught me to be well rounded, coachable, and respectful. As I mentioned above, I am also hardworking and dedicated in everything that I do. For example, as a second grader, I did independent study for math because the work that my class was doing wasn't challenging me. That led me to being two grades ahead of my classmates in math. I pride myself on getting good grades and being one of the top ranked students in my class.
I am also a multi-sport athlete. I play basketball as well and I was voted as a team captain by my teammates last year and was voted again this year. I am in a leadership role on my baseball team as well. Being a leader is important to me because I like being in a position where I can help lead the team to success. Last year in basketball, I received a First Team All Conference honor alongside my First Team All Conference honor and Honorable Mention All State honor in baseball. During my time playing both baseball and basketball I have learned that I love to compete. I always want to be the best and do the best that I can to help my team win. Playing the game brings out a side of me that I can't find anywhere but on the field. I know I have the athletic and academic ability to succeed at the next level.
