Personal Statement

Hello, my name is Peter D’Agostino.  I am almost 20 years old and would like to transition from my junior college team to a college to finish my education at.

As my second year of junior college has come to a close; I have learned more about myself and the sport of baseball than I ever had imagined.  I admittedly struggled my first year with the academic and athletic challenges put forth, but I have worked hard to learn what level of dedication and effort it takes to balance both successfully. I received an associate degree in science from Trinidad State Junior College this Spring with a 3.25 GPA and  an overall 2.85 GPA.  It is my intent to continue my higher education in the field of Sports Science.

The past couple of years has allowed me to grow into a confident and independent person who knows how to go into a classroom or on a field to acquire what I need to be successful.  I am fully committed to continuing my baseball journey at the next level as well as my academics. Embracing all aspects of student life and a dedication to team culture is the model I use to define my role on a team. I feel I achieve this mainly by example, using my work ethic as that example to fellow teammates.  Beyond the game itself, I endeavor to support my teammates and coaches on and off the field as well as participating in local youth and community activities.

Coming from a rural area in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, coaches and recruiters often said I was a little behind and should use my first couple of years in college to build my strength and consistency.  This spurred me to work even harder and I learned a lot about myself in the process.  I was red shirted as a middle infielder during my first year of junior college mainly due to a hand injury in the fall semester. I came out of that year with a desire to work consistently over the summer at those positions. I went into that summer attending the Puerto Rico Independent Baseball League which opened up pitching opportunities for me that I had not pursued since high school.  I returned to my second year at junior college mainly as a pitcher. Focusing on pitching this past spring season; I was often placed in games in the late innings to either save or to limit runs in the game. In that role my season ERA was 4.66  with a BAA of 176. Although I mainly pitched this past season; it is my hope to continue working hard and pursue an infield/hitting position as well.

I truly enjoy all aspects of baseball, the work, the process, the team.  I’m looking forward to continuing my journey.  Please review my videos on my NCSA page and feel free to contact me directly at 970-309-2835 or [email protected].
