I am a 6'4" LHP and currently weigh 192 lbs. I throw and bat left handed. What I love most about playing baseball is competing in big games and being on the mound, managing the game. It's me & my catcher vs. batter. My Junior year, I was one of 3 team captains for Legend High School's varsity team that won our 5A Continental League and our District. Our 2018 goal is to win the CO 5A State Championship. During the summer and fall months, I travel with Slammers Baseball's premiere 2018 team, Slammers-Martin. My coaches really want me to play basketball for my Legend HS team this winter, however I am leaning towards fully committing myself to my pitching and physical fitness and development.
My approach to pitching is to keep my opponents off balance with a random combination of changing wind-up speeds (that I learned from watching Adam Wainright) and pitch types. I throw 4 pitches from the same arm slot and am learning new grips and arm slots the more I work with my coaches. I have been successful with my pick-off move to first and second. Approx 50% of my BB's result in a pick-off from 1B. When not pitching, I am comfortable in the outfield and first base.
My older brother, Connor McCord, is 6'8" and plays basketball for Augustana College in Rock Island, IL.
I am eager to find a competitive baseball program at a southern university where I can compete and represent my program and university. I know that I have what it takes to compete and lead at the next level and still aspire to play professional baseball.
I welcome you to attend any of my upcoming games and I look forward to speaking with you about my potential fit for your university and baseball program. Thank you for reviewing my profile.
