For as long as I can remember, I've always loved the game of baseball - the competition, the excitement, and the comradery of the game has always stuck out to me. When I first set foot onto the diamond in first grade, I immediately knew this was the sport for me. Throughout playing the game of baseball I've learned many things about not only my technique but about who I am on a personal level. For example, I learned that even if you make a bad play or have a bad ‘at bat’ you must develop the ability to clear your head and prepare yourself for the next opportunity you get. Lessons like that can be applicable in my everyday life and help me strive to succeed and overcome life’s obstacles.
On the field I’ve been able to help lead my teams verbally but also through example. Being a leader on the team is especially something I've become accustomed to from a young age. Many of the early travel teams I was on did not have greatest success so, being able to take charge and help my teammates succeed is something I've been able to do for a long time, especially when it comes to being a catcher, since I have to make sure I can elevate my pitcher’s game whether it's through framing, blocking, or helping them make adjustments. Because of this, I've set high expectations for myself on and off the field such as achieving straight A’s, staying out of trouble and being a good person.
